Hearts that heal: Children from the Parent House visit ZIRA to celebrate sponsorship renewal

ZIRA Group

In a world that often moves too fast, the stories that stay with us are those rooted in humanity and care for others. One such story continues between the Association Heart for Children with Cancer and ZIRA.

With the renewal of its sponsorship through the Friend of the Parent House project, ZIRA has once again taken responsibility for an apartment at the Parent House in Tuzla, preserving a place that offers families of children undergoing treatment something they need most in difficult times: a sense of safety, warmth, and home.

This support goes far beyond financial assistance. It sends a powerful message to parents and children that they are never alone. The long-standing friendship with ZIRA reflects a true partnership built on empathy, responsibility, and the belief that a community can create meaningful change.

The Parent House in Tuzla is a place where families of children battling cancer find comfort and strength during treatment. It is a space where, despite difficult diagnoses, hope is born, courage grows, and resilience takes root. Thanks to ZIRA’s renewed sponsorship, one apartment will continue to be a haven of warmth, peace, and support for parents whose children are fighting their most important battles.

“Every act of support we receive has the face of the people it helps. It means peace of mind for worried parents, safety for children undergoing treatment, and the feeling that someone is thinking of them even in the hardest moments. The Parent House is not just a physical space; it is a place where families find the strength to move forward,” said Fikret Kubat, Director of the Association.

As a gesture of gratitude for the continuation of this meaningful partnership, children and young people who have been treated for cancer, members of the Association visited ZIRA at its Sarajevo offices. Through a warm gathering and a healthy nutrition workshop organized together with Bistro ZDRAVO, they had the opportunity to meet the team behind this support, learn more about their work, and share their own stories of struggle, perseverance, and victory.

“Meeting children and young people who have gone through or are still undergoing treatment reminds us how much the small things truly matter. A smile, a conversation, the feeling that someone cares—these are the values we want our support to carry. We hope children and parents know they will always have a sincere friend in ZIRA and that our support never ends with words alone,” said Emir Bukvić, ZIRA's CEO.

This visit also inspired a new initiative; ZIRA will support a young woman who, after her own battle with illness, started a small business. Such support provides strong encouragement to young people who, despite everything they have faced, bravely continue building their future.

The Association Heart for Children with Cancer is grateful to ZIRA for renewed trust and friendship. Together, we demonstrate that social responsibility is not merely a phrase but a lasting commitment to those who need support the most.

When hearts come together, we create a home, restore smiles, and build a future filled with hope.
